After more than 18 years in the New York fashion industry, Molly founded Ladybird Consulting. She now partners with brands to shape thoughtful creative direction, art direction, and marketing initiatives—bringing a refined eye and a sense of storytelling to every project she touches. It’s that same perspective she brings to her work on Hampden's creative direction, as well as this week’s Guest Editor feature. For Molly, fashion is less about strict rules and more about instinct. While she admits she’ll always love the simplicity of jeans and a white T-shirt, her style is ultimately guided by mood—mixing feminine pieces with tailored or menswear-inspired elements to create that perfect balance of ease and structure. In her words, the Hampden woman is “fun and confident”—someone who knows what she loves, but also enjoys discovering something new each time she walks through the door. This week, Molly shares the pieces and trends currently inspiring her, along with what she's excited to see at Hampden next.

So what is inspiring you creatively right now?
Right now I’m inspired by recent runway shows — especially the textures and color stories. I loved the Chloé show this morning and how they’re bringing back that bohemian, feminine vibe… I just feel reinspired by it.

What is your current outfit formula?
I don’t really have a formula — I just really love fashion. It’s more about my mood each day. That said, I’m definitely a jeans-and-white-T-shirt girl. But I also love a cool skirt with a crop top, a striped tee, or a bright-colored knit. It’s really about having fun and feeling confident in what you’re wearing. I love mixing and matching — like wearing a feminine dress with something more menswear-inspired, such as a blazer. I tend to gravitate toward that juxtaposition in whatever I’m wearing — that balance of feminine and structured elements.

What comes to mind when you think about the Hampden woman?
Fun and confident. Stacy has done such a great job curating a space where people can come in — even if they feel intimidated by fashion — and get excited about it. They can work with stylists and feel supported. I think of the Hampden woman as someone who knows what she wants, shops there regularly, and is part of a strong return customer community. It’s really fun to keep her in mind when curating the assortment. And then there’s also the woman who is finding her style and comes into Hampden for guidance and inspiration.

What trend are you loving right now?
There are so many. I love the ’90s fashion resurgence — ’90s minimalism is definitely back. I’m loving the balloon pants moment — I don’t think that’s going away anytime soon. It feels fresh and effortless. I’m also drawn to sheer fabrics and bright colors. In the Chloé show this morning, there were amazing pops of red, purple, and pink. I’m seeing that reflected in pieces from Hunter Bell as well. And I still love texture mixing — fringe, crochet, and other layered details. That combination continues to feel really relevant.

What are you excited for people to see from Hampden next?
One thing I love about Hampden is that they’re always doing something different and bringing new energy to the customer experience. I’m excited about the upcoming shop-in-shop with Staud, a brand that they haven’t carried in a long time. It will be a new experience in the store and something thoughtfully built out. I love that you can always come into Hampden and discover something new.
