A lot of what women spend on their health can be paid for with an HSA or FSA.
Other products may be HSA/FSA eligible for qualified customers with a Letter of Medical Necessity.
Here's how to tell which is which, plus a few picks worth knowing about.

What Counts On Its Own
The IRS asks one question about a health purchase. Is its main purpose medical? If it is, the item is typically covered with no extra paperwork.
For women's health, that list is longer than most people expect. It typically includes period products like tampons, pads, cups and period underwear, which the 2020 CARES Act added. It can also include pregnancy tests, ovulation kits, fertility monitors, breast pumps, breastfeeding supplies, postpartum recovery items and prescribed hormone therapy. Your plan administrator has the final say.
If you have an FSA, these are easy ways to use up a balance before your plan's deadline. The 2026 FSA limit is $3,400, and most FSAs are use it or lose it. If your plan allows a carryover, you can roll over up to $680.

Where A Letter of Medical Necessity Comes In
Then there are products with both a health use and an everyday use, like supplements, recovery gear, hormone tracking tech, and fitness programs. For these, the IRS needs to see that you're buying them for a medical reason.
A Letter of Medical Necessity is how you show that. You fill out a health survey, an independent licensed practitioner reviews it, and if you qualify, you get a letter that connects the purchase to your health needs.
That's why two women can buy the same bottle of supplements and only one of them pays with pre-tax dollars. What matters is why you're buying it, not what it is.

What's in Vida Delrahim's health stack?
We caught up with Vida Delrahim, cofounder of the prenatal brand
WeNatal. She's a mom of young kids, so her routine runs on small habits she can repeat every day.

Morning
She starts with hot lemon water and electrolytes, then spends a few minutes outside in natural light within half an hour of waking up. Breakfast is high in protein, with WeNatal for Her and Omega DHA+. Coffee comes after food, not before.

Daytime
Strength training most days, mixed in with spin or yoga. Lunch is high in fiber, she takes a 10 minute walk after it, and she stops caffeine around 2pm.

Evening
Dinner is early, around 5:30, with her kids. After that, the screens go away and the lights go down. She takes WeNatal magnesium, writes a few lines in a gratitude journal, and turns the lights out around 9:30 in a cool, dark room.
