Have you ever wondered how a 300-page book becomes a 15-minute Blink?

Behind every Blink is a team of experienced writers, editors, and audio experts. We read, review, distill, and produce until a book becomes a Blink that’s clearly written and enjoyable to listen to.

I’m Tom Anderson, and I lead the Content team at Blinkist. My job is to work with the team to decide which books we turn into Blinks. Each year, we review several hundred books across multiple languages – in the end, only 60 to 70 of the very best titles make it into the app each month.

Once a book makes the cut, the real work begins:

📖 Read & understand: Our experienced writers read the book from beginning to end and distill the ideas that truly matter.
✏️ Write & refine: The draft then lands with our editorial team. We read, question, and revise. Is the tone right? Does the core idea really come through? Does the Blink make you want to learn more? No Blink goes further until it meets all of these standards.
🎙️ Record & produce: Our expert narrators and audio producers make sure each Blink sounds the way it should: clear, enjoyable, and like a good conversation — not like a document being read aloud.

My personal recommendation for getting started:
